What Is a Hernia Mesh and Why Is It Dangerous?

A surgical mesh is a medical device that is used to provide support to a weakened or damaged tissue. Mesh implants can be constructed from synthetic materials or animal tissue. This mesh may be absorbable or not, in which case it is considered a permanent implant. Hernia mesh is mesh used to repair a hernia. While it may help some patients, the hernia mesh implant comes with the risk of various complications.
